FCC initiated the Keep Americans Connected Pledge, which asks broadband and telephone service providers to temporarily loosen their policies on payment dates, terminations, and dues for customers and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pledge specifically asks service providers to:
- Not terminate service for any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay their bills
- Waive any late fees that any residential or small business customers incur because of their economic circumstances;
- Open its Wi-Fi hotspots to any American who needs them
